New York
City (NYC) in the United States is only ranked second in the recently released list of the 100 best global cities.
Global consulting firm for real estate, tourism and economic development, Resonance Consultancy released the World’s Best Cities Report 2026 (

, London in the UK managed to maintain the top spot for the 11th year in a row, while New York City (NYC) moved up to second place this year.

The report dubbed NYC “the eternal beating heart of America” and stated that the city’s refusal to “play to anyone’s script” remains New York’s greatest asset.
Tourism remains key for NYC, with nearly 65 million visitors in 2024 and an estimated 64.1 million in 2025. It generates more than US$70 billion in revenue for the city.
Meanwhile, London for 11 consecutive years confirmed its position as the World’s Best City according to Resonance Consultancy.This prestigious title was achieved after London dominated the highest score, especially in the Prosperity (Prosperity) assessment group.
London, which refers to itself as ”
The Capital of Capitals
,” has consistently become a global magnet, attracting various groups ranging from students, entrepreneurs, tourists, to conglomerates.
According to the CEO of London & Partners, Laura Citron, by 2025, London has launched a plan for the next 10 years with ambitious targets: recording a record number of large-scale companies based in London, expanding global reach, as well as increasing the number of tourists and a planned investment target of reaching 10 billion pounds sterling.
Third place on this list is occupied by the capital of France, Paris.Paris has been praised for its transformation as a futuristic urban laboratory amidst its historical nuances.
In the World’s Best Cities 2026 ranking method, Resonance Consultancy used combined data from global users, statistical data and other proprietary research, including a survey conducted by research consultant Ipsos, which involved more than 21,000 respondents in 30 countries.
So what about Jakarta’s ranking?
Jakarta is ranked 53rd, one position below Guangzhou and one position above Delhi, India.In the Southeast Asia region, Jakarta’s position is still below Kuala Lumpur (50), Bangkok (22), and Singapore (6).
It should be noted, throughout Resonance’s city ranking research, Jakarta has only managed to enter the top 100 twice, namely in 2023 (rank 89) and this year at rank 53.
In this list, Jakarta also beats the capital of the United States, Washington DC, which is ranked 57th and Taipei in 63rd place.
