Phenomenon
patient
who looks ‘fluffy’ or speaks slurredly after undergoing it
anesthesia
It turns out to be a side effect that can appear in some people.Even though it often goes viral on social media, this condition is actually not dangerous.
Specialist in anesthesiology and intensive therapy from Siloam Hospital Agora, Reno Yonora, explained that this effect does not occur in all patients.
“So it’s not always there. Each patient’s condition or disease will give an indication of how much the doctor will think about how much medicine to give or what anesthetic choice,” said Reno, Wednesday (10/12) as reported by

According to him, behavior such as rambling, confusion, and the sensation of being detached from oneself are influenced by various factors. The long duration of the action, the patient’s health condition, and the type of anesthetic given will determine whether or not these effects appear.
Reno also explained that some anesthetic drugs have a dissociation effect, namely a condition when a person feels separated from their thoughts, feelings or identity.
“Usually it can be from the medication given. Some provide dissociation, others can occur,” he explained. He gave the example of drugs such as ketalar which can trigger this effect, while other types of drugs may not cause it.
However, the anesthesia procedure remains safe.Every drug administration is carried out based on medical indications, the patient’s condition, and strict safety standards.
Therefore, patients who are afraid after seeing viral posts about ‘halu’ patients do not need to worry.
“Don’t be afraid, because health goals must be followed. If a procedure permit has been issued, that means it is safe,” stressed Reno.
He also advised patients who feel anxious to consult directly with a doctor about the procedure, risks and choice of anesthetic drugs to be calmer before the procedure.
