During the United States (US) government shutdown, the country’s commercial aviation conditions became chaotic.That situation makes aircraft leasing
private jet
soared because it became an alternative transportation.
More than 17,000 commercial flights in the US were delayed over the weekend.This is due to a lack of air traffic control or ATC staff on duty, so that flight facilities are disrupted.
Previously, President Donald Trump’s administration last week instructed US commercial airlines to cut ATC schedules at 40 major US airports by 4 percent initially, but potentially increasing by up to 10 percent at the end of the week.

The reason is, since October 1 2025 most ATC staff are required to work during the US government shutdown without regular salaries, this is the main trigger for the lack of staff on flights.
Seeing this, the Senate initiated an agreement to end this shutdown until Monday (17/11), but this intention still requires approval from the US Congress.
This flight disruption in the US has made it difficult for travelers from all over Uncle Sam’s country and inevitably look for other alternatives, including using private jets.

, according to information from the Flexjet company, demand for private jet rentals has increased compared to last year, where a drastic increase has occurred since the last few weeks.
In the first week of November 2025, a 42 percent increase in private jet charters was recorded compared to the same period last year.If accumulated, this year it has increased by 20 percent.
“This means that our aircraft owners and lessees are using their (private jet) aircraft more and more frequently. The number jumped in October (2025), and continues to increase,” said Global Flexjet CEO, Andrew Collins, in an interview.
Global company Flexjet also revealed that private jet flying hours last month rose 23 percent compared to last year.
Collins believes it is too early to draw conclusions regarding the surge in private jet use due to this closure.However, it is certain that there has been an increase in fractional aircraft rental orders recently.

(FAA) plans to limit private jet traffic at 12 major US airports on Monday (17/11).
Meanwhile, the FAA’s initial order last week did not require the private aviation sector to specifically cut flights, as commercial airlines have ordered.
NBAA also noted that private jet businesses often use airports outside busy US airports.
“Because business flight routing is not fixed, it is possible to utilize relief airports so as not to overload major commercial hubs, and get people where they need to go from points that are still within close proximity to their points of origin and destination,” Flexjet said in a statement.
