in Indonesia continues to increase.Even in the first five months of 2025, starting from January to May, TB cases reached 81,864 cases.This figure is included in the estimated figure of 234 thousand TB cases covering West Java.
Deputy Minister of Health (Wamenkes), Benjamin Paulus Oktavianus, highlighted the increase in cases.He said several efforts needed to be increased to eradicate TB cases which continued to increase in West Java.

Apart from that, TB treatment in West Java is considered to be still underdeveloped.This is evident from the large gap between the handling of TB cases and the national target, indicating that this problem must be resolved immediately.
Only 80 percent of the 90 percent national target for Drug Sensitive TB therapy has been achieved.Meanwhile, in handling drug-resistant TB, of the target of 2,866 cases, only 1,063 were successfully treated.
The burden on TB sufferers increases if the condition is worsened by comorbidities.There were 4,763 TB patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and 1,165 patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), with a death rate of 2,294 people in West Java.
The Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, said that the West Java government would soon release an announcement with the aim of appealing to and encouraging the active participation of the West Java community in tackling TB.
“The West Java Provincial Government is preparing an official announcement to all the people of West Java as a form of joint invitation to increase awareness, utilize screening services, and strengthen the role of the community in supporting successful treatment,” said Dedi.
