The United States (US) lost his life after being attacked by a giant wasp in Luang Prabang, Laos.
Daniel Owen (47), and his son, Cooper (15) were attacked by a swarm of giant wasps while visiting a nature resort in Laos.
That day, Wednesday (15/10), was supposed to be an exciting day for Owen and Cooper.While enjoying zip-lining at Green Jungle Park, they couldn’t avoid being attacked by a swarm of Asian giant hornets which turned out to be an invasive predator species.

Instead of being stung by an ordinary wasp, these two tourists were stung by a wasp nicknamed “killer wasp” and without hesitation, they experienced 100 stings, as reported by
The New York Post
.
The father and son struggled to get down from the tree they had already climbed with their guide.However, Owen and Cooper were declared dead several hours after being taken to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, there is no clarity regarding the fate of their guide.A spokesperson for the United States Department of State has confirmed the deaths of two US citizens in Luang Prabang.
However, the spokesperson did not provide much information because he wanted to respect the privacy of the victim’s family.
“Out of respect for the privacy of families and loved ones during this difficult time, we have no further comment,” said a spokesperson for the United States Department of State, quoted from

Owen himself is the director of Quality Schools International in Hai Phong City, Vietnam.Unexpectedly, he, who was on holiday in Laos with his son, returned home with only his name left.
Green Jungle Park, which was the scene of the incident, expressed its condolences and said it had reviewed all existing procedures there.

, Asian giant hornet stings contain poison that can cause necrosis and death of cells and tissues in the body.
If the victim is stung multiple times and the poison reaches the victim’s organs through the bloodstream, the results can be fatal.In Owen’s case, he and his child were stung more than 100 times.
