Asia’s exposure to world tourism is very high, but visa requirements are still the biggest barrier for them to travel to various countries in the world.
Many of them have canceled plans to travel abroad because of visa issues.
A survey from the Agoda platform revealed that visa requirements continue to significantly impact travel plans for travelers from Asia.As many as 35 percent of respondents agreed that visas were the biggest barrier factor.

Previously, Agoda conducted a survey of 3,353 respondents in a number of Asian markets, including India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
The survey conducted in October 2025 also revealed that if this visa barrier could be removed, tourist interest would increase, especially tourists from India, the Philippines and Indonesia who showed the greatest interest in exploring new destinations.
Agoda concluded that visa policy changes could play a key role in increasing tourism.The proof is that tourism in countries that have visa concessions has increased.

, Malaysia and Thailand which have implemented visa policy changes have seen a significant increase in the tourism industry.Tourists from India have increased drastically in visiting Malaysia after visa relaxation.
Thanks to this visa exemption, by 2024, Malaysia will welcome more than 1.13 million Indian tourists.This figure increased significantly by 71.7 percent, compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile in Thailand, Indian tourists are one of the five largest visitors to Thailand.This means that tourists from India have a great interest in tourism, especially in countries that provide visa concessions.
According to the Henley Passport Index 2025, the Indian passport is ranked 82nd in offering visa-free access or VoA to 57 destinations.The Philippines is ranked 76th with access to 64 destinations, while Indonesia is ranked 67th with 73 destinations.
