Aceh Tamiang is a division area of North Aceh Regency and was officially established in 2001, with an area of 3,177.63 square kilometers.This region is rich in natural resources, ranging from oil palm plantations, rubber, to agricultural products.
This area also holds many historical inscriptions that testify to Aceh’s long journey.The area is now inhabited by various tribes such as Acehnese, Malays and Bataks.

Before the disaster, Aceh Tamiang was known for its amazing natural charm.One of its prides is the Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL) which is part of the UNESCO world heritage.
TNGL is a habitat for various exotic flora and fauna in Indonesia, including orangutans and the increasingly rare Sumatran tiger.The views of lush tropical forests make this area a favorite destination for trekking tourists.
Seven Juh Waterfall is also a popular destination.As the name suggests, this waterfall has seven streams of water flowing from the peak to the valley.Its beauty captivates many visitors.
There is also Lake Bias Kunjang which offers a beautiful panorama, suitable for relaxing while riding a rowing boat.
Visitors can even snorkel in this lake.Unfortunately, all these destinations are now affected and paralyzed by flooding.

The flora and fauna of Aceh Tamiang have high ecological value.Public awareness of preserving it has made various ecotourism programs develop in this region, as well as opening up additional income opportunities for local residents.
A variety of rare flora grows in this area, including tropical tree species and traditional medicinal plants.The rare fauna includes orangutans, elephants, Sumatran tigers and endemic birds.

Cultural and culinary tourism
The strength of Aceh Tamiang culture is also a special attraction.Various traditions are still maintained and regularly performed.Tourists can watch the Saman dance, Gayo traditions, the Harvest Season Festival, and other local arts performances.
The historical side is also preserved in cultural heritage and important buildings, such as the Al-Munawarah Great Mosque which was founded in 1903 as a symbol of community resilience.There is also the Kuto Baro Historical City which is a reminder of the past center of Aceh Tamiang government.
The culinary tourism is no less tempting.Acehnese noodles, goat’s gule, Ulee Kareng, lontong, and various seafood are mandatory dishes when visiting.
