This incident occurred at Slamet Hospital, Garut, West Java 15 years ago.At that time, Christofani was a resident at the hospital.”Shocked and in disbelief,” said Christofani, Tuesday (18/11), to detikcom.
At that time, continued Christofani, a paraji or midwife came carrying a black kerosene.Unexpectedly, the kerosene contained the patient’s uterus which had fallen off.
“When we opened it, it turned out that the contents of the uterus were about half from the top of the uterus to the body of the uterus,” he explained.
At that time, the patient was immediately brought into the room.According to him, at that time the patient was in a phase
hypovolemic shock
or a life-threatening emergency medical condition resulting in significant loss of blood and body volume. This means that the patient is in critical condition.
“Our focus at that time was on fluid resuscitation and trying to carry out surgery as soon as possible to stop the bleeding,” said Christofani, who currently practices at Siloam Hospital.
The patient also managed to get through the critical period, even though the part of the uterus that had fallen off could not be reattached.
Christofani understands that many doctors doubt the viral story. The reason is, under normal conditions, he continued, a detached uterus is impossible.
It’s just that, in this case, the uterus detached because of the actions taken by the paraji.Paraji forced the postpartum placenta out, pulling forcefully, until part of the uterus came out through the vagina.
“Again, this condition [the uterus fell out] occurred because of the paraji’s treatment,” he stressed.
This, continued Christofani, could be a lesson about how important it is to have regular pregnancy checks and choose to give birth in a good health facility.
