“We are coordinating with the police so that the Nataru holiday remains safe and enjoyable, for both domestic and foreign tourists,” said Ni Luh Puspa in Jakarta.
Based on Ministry of Tourism projections, the number of foreign tourist visits this December is estimated to reach 1.2 million people.Meanwhile, data from the Ministry of Transportation predicts a much more fantastic figure for domestic tourist movements, namely reaching 100 million movements.
“The peak is expected to occur in the last week of December. We encourage all parties to prepare for this surge,” added Ni Luh.
Extreme Weather Alert and Risk Management
Considering that the Nataru holiday coincides with predictions of high rainfall from BMKG, the Ministry of Tourism has made safety aspects a top priority. The Circular Letter of the Minister of Tourism has been published and distributed to all regional governments (Pemda), associations and tourism service businesses.
Important points in the Ministry of Tourism’s instructions include:
– Intensive Coordination: Regional Governments are asked to synergize with PHRI, the health sector, TNI, Polri, and the local BPBD and Basarnas.
– Risk Management: Tourist destinations, especially those with a high level of vulnerability, are required to fill out a risk management matrix prepared by the government to map potential disasters.
– Early Anticipation: Filling in this matrix is expected to be a mitigation step so that undesirable things can be prevented during the holiday period.
On the other hand, to improve the holiday experience, the Ministry of Tourism has prepared 65 tour packages in collaboration with 23 industrial partners. This package includes favorite destinations such as Puncak Bogor, Dieng, Mandalika, Bromo Tengger Semeru, Labuan Bajo, Bali, and Batam.
Regarding travel costs, the Ministry of Tourism confirmed that the airline ticket discount policy of 13 percent to 14 percent for the December-January period has been implemented.Airlines and online travel agents (OTA) are encouraged to continue to comply with this policy in order to ease the burden on the public.
“Everything is running, and the public has started buying tickets,” concluded Ni Luh.
