In its Instagram upload, the TNGR Center explained that this tariff adjustment is part of efforts to improve service quality, conservation and sustainable management in the Mount Rinjani area.
Chairman of the Rinjani Circle Tourism Forum (FWLR), Royal Sembahulun, expressed support for this tariff increase. However, he assessed that this policy also had an impact on Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP).
Royal hopes that the government will allocate at least 30 percent of PNBP to improve Rinjani’s governance.
“We ask the government that at least 30 percent return to Rinjani to improve governance and facilities,” he told detikBali, Tuesday (21/10).
Meanwhile, the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government claims that the tariff increase has no impact on the level of tourist arrivals.
“We hope that services and safety aspects for climbers will also be adjusted,” said Head of the NTB Tourism Service, Ahmad Nur Aulia, Tuesday (18/11).
Aulia said that there are still many people who think that climbing Rinjani is just a light trekking activity, even though the route is considered extreme. Therefore, he believes that increasing tariffs can help improve safety standards and regional governance.
He added that the NTB Provincial Government will coordinate with the central government to optimize the management of climbing revenues, especially in structuring the Mount Rinjani National Park area.
