Want to test your endurance on an extreme road trip?
Bus
“Transoceânica” offers the longest route in the world, crossing the continent for 3,900 miles or about 6,275 km and passing through 30 different cities in a scheduled travel time of five full days.
This bus, operated by the Brazilian company Trans Acreana, connects Lima, Peru, to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, crossing major cities including São Paulo.
Even though the ticket price is quite affordable, namely 1,300 Brazilian reals or around IDR 4.1 million per trip, the experience on offer is far from luxurious.Standard facilities available include Wi-Fi, clean water, USB ports and toilets.

The passengers’ experience is divided into two contrasting views.A number of tourists who have taken this route admit that they pass through gloomy and challenging areas. However, they agreed that the experience was worth it and provided satisfaction after successfully completing the trip.
On the other hand, YouTuber Noel Philips, who documented his journey, has a different view.He criticized the buses, which the company claimed had soft and comfortable seats, but actually felt very uncomfortable.
“Nobody uses headphones. Everyone plays (cellphones) at full volume. When they can’t hear them, they turn up the volume so that in the end you hear 15 cellphones playing different things at 55,000 decibels,” said Noel on his YouTube channel, highlighting the noisy atmosphere and lack of privacy.

Initially, the journey in Peru was treated to stunning mountain views. However, Noel said, after the bus crossed the border and entered Brazilian territory, the view became monotonous and less impressive.
Additionally, he highlighted the risks of delay.Buses are often hampered when entering mountainous areas due to tankers blocking the road. This condition can cause travel times to be delayed by up to six days.
Meanwhile, a tourist from Brazil who documented his journey crossing the Andes Mountains and entering the Amazon told a different story.Due to the lack of activities to do, passengers end up chatting with each other, on topics that can become very deep due to boredom.
The conversation got even more lively as we passed southwestern Brazil, where passengers argued over which Ceviche (Peru’s national dish) was the tastiest – met with jokes that theirs was much better.
Regardless of the pros and cons of the experience offered, the adventure of riding the Transoceânica Bus is exclusive. The world’s longest bus journey is not available all year round, and until the end of this year or 2026, there are no scheduled departures available.
