Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (
BPOM
) RI secures 15 natural medicinal products (OBA) or
herbs
illegal and dangerous.These medicines are known to contain medicinal chemicals (BKO) which can damage body organs, including
kidney
.
These drugs are mass marketed.Medicines are generally known as slimming products, to increase male stamina, and to treat aches and pains.

Of the dozens of products, five of them contain BKO sibutramine and sildenafil citrate.While the other five contain dexamethasone, paracetamol, mefenamic acid, ibuprofen and diclofenac sodium.
Head of BPOM RI Taruna Ikrar said that the BKO mixture in these medicines can damage body organs, including the liver and kidneys.This effect can be fatal if consumed in excess.
According to Ikrar, adding BKO to herbal products is not just a violation.More than that, this is considered a form of sabotage against public health.
“These products are disguised as herbal medicine or herbal supplements, and contain dangerous active medicinal substances,” said Ikrar in his statement, Monday (3/11).
