However, from various visits to the clinic, it was thought that these complaints were only due to stomach acid or lung spots.
“I’ve been feeling these symptoms for about two months. I went back and forth to the clinic, they said it was stomach acid, I even misdiagnosed it as lung spots,” said Sulistio, Monday (8/12) quoting

In fact, he said, there was one incident that would never be forgotten. At that time, Sulistia and her family wanted to buy lung medicine. However, he was required to wait until Thursday.
“But before Thursday I couldn’t stand it until I became unconscious,” he recalled.
Sulistia was immediately rushed to the hospital emergency room in Tangerang. From further examination, the doctor confirmed that his condition had entered stage 5 kidney failure.
Because he was only 14 years old at that time, he was referred to another hospital which was capable of treating pediatric patients. At the referral hospital, his condition was said to be critical and he had to be treated in the ICU for two weeks in a coma.
Sulistia explained that the doctor assessed that his kidney damage was caused by his habit of consuming colored drinks and packaged sweet drinks, plus fast food that he had consumed since childhood. He also rarely drinks water and has a family history of hypertension, which increases the risk of kidney damage.
“For now, I’m fine if I don’t have any complaints. Sometimes I get short of breath when I drink a lot, because I drink 600 ml a day,” said Sulistia, who now does dialysis every Wednesday and Saturday.
Urology specialist, Nur Rasyid, explained that one of the symptoms that often appears in kidney failure is nausea and vomiting. This condition occurs because urea, a metabolic waste product, accumulates in the body due to decreased kidney function.
“So when people start to have kidney failure, they sometimes feel nauseous. Because there is urea that the kidneys have to get rid of,” he said some time ago.
According to him, the decline in kidney function did not occur suddenly.Ureum levels rise slowly until finally causing severe symptoms. It is in this initial phase that many patients think they are simply experiencing stomach problems.
“Usually they take ulcer medicine first. Then, if the ulcer medicine doesn’t work, they go to the doctor. When they feel nauseous, their kidney function is already bad,” he said.
