summoned the project developer after finding a number of violations in the construction of a glass lift at Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Bali.
Not only asking for an explanation from the project developer, but this summons is also aimed at the Klungkung Regency Government and the Bali Provincial Government so they can provide information.
Chairman of the Special Committee (Pansus) for Spatial Planning, Assets and Licensing (TRAP) of the Bali DPRD, I Made Suparta, said that this summons was planned for next week, but currently discussions are still in the planning process and are being held internally.

“Next week the plan (to be called), we will check the office schedule first. OPD related to Klungkung Regency and the Provincial Government, for the developer we will later deepen it,” explained Suparta, as reported by

Furthermore, the Chairman of the PDIP Fraction of the Bali DPRD also explained that in its implementation, an in-depth investigation of the project developers would be carried out by Satpol PP, who would then report the results to the DPRD.
This summons was based on the discovery of a number of violations during a surprise inspection (sidak) last Friday (31/10).Following up on these findings, the DPRD would like to ask for an explanation of the three main violations.
“As physically, there are activities on the edge of the cliff first, then there are activities based on the sand of the country’s land, (thirdly) there are no activities allowed in disaster mitigation areas. That’s clear,” explained Suparta.
He added that the project permit documents were considered incomplete and the layout of the lift project violated the disaster mitigation area.
After the Bali DPRD TRAP Special Committee carried out an inspection of the project location worth IDR 200 billion, the Bali Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) then temporarily stopped the glass lift project located on the steep cliffs of Kelingking Beach.

“Indeed, most of them are complete, it’s just that there are still some things that need to be completed according to our findings in the field,” said the Head of the Bali Satpol PP, I Dewa Nyoman Dharmadi.
This project, which is partnering with Chinese investors, also has the potential to be completely stopped due to many discrepancies, including in terms of selecting materials that are considered unsafe.
“Studies and findings from the Energy and Mineral Resources Department of Manpower also stated that the materials used were not in accordance with those recommended by the Ministry of Manpower,” he added.
On the other hand, the Director of PT Bina Nusa Properti, I Komang Suantara, as the liaison for Chinese investors in the Kelingking Beach glass lift project, emphasized that they had fulfilled all permits.
He also regretted that the plan to build a 182 meter high lift went viral without confirmation from the developer.
“We didn’t get a call about the viral content. There was no data from us. There was no permission from us to release this viral content. Is the data they conveyed true or not? I’ll clarify that we are proceeding correctly. There are no administrative holes. Through trials, monitoring processes in the field. We assure you that the process will continue,” explained Suantara, quoted from detikBali, Thursday (30/10).
The reason is, the glass lift project at Kelingking Beach is a collaboration between PT Bina Nusa Properti, Chinese investors, and the Karang Dewa Indigenous Banjar community who live in the project location.
Suantara emphasized that this project has gone through a legal process following Klungkung Regency Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024 and Klungkung Regency Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2023. According to Suantara, the community also does not oppose and approves of the glass lift project.
“We are in the process. At the start, we didn’t build straight away. From the first, we carried out sondir (field testing method). There were consultants, there were independent institutions who cross-checked technicians on the mineral content and strength of the soil. After an analysis was carried out and a decision was issued, that this land was suitable for building an elevator,” he said.
“Klungkung Regency journalists also covered the laying of the first stone. That’s fine, there’s nothing to be concerned about. In fact, the people of Bunga Mekar Village support this glass viewing platform lift 100 percent,” said Suantara.
