Recalling the A320 last week, the government has now confirmed that this type of aircraft is safe to return to service in Indonesia.
Previously, the Airbus Recall A320 was directed by the Emergency Airworthiness of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to recall Airbus 320 aircraft in Indonesia that had not been equipped
Aileron Elevator software
(ELAC) is suitable for use.
ELAC itself is a program that makes it easier for pilots to control the turns and rise and fall of the plane. This EASA rule was released on 28 November 2025, effectively effective from 30 November 2025 at 06.59 WIB.

A total of 38 aircraft from six airlines were affected. The towed aircraft is then installed with suitable ELAC software, with an estimated installation time of around 3-5 days.Once declared fit, this aircraft can operate again.
There has been an inspection and downgrade of the ELAC B 104 software carried out by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Ditjen Hubud) of the Ministry of Transportation, where the aircraft affected by the recall were declared fit to operate again.
“The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has issued an airworthiness order (
Airworthiness Directives
) in order to maintain flight safety, especially Airbus A320 aircraft operating in Indonesia and ensure that the aircraft has an Aileron Elevator Control Computer (ELAC) that is ‘fit to operate’ before carrying out the next flight,” explained the Director General of Civil Aviation, Lukman F. Laisa, as reported

He also added that there had been corrective action taken on these planes by the affected Indonesian airlines.Apart from that, the Airworthiness Inspector and Aircraft Operations Inspector of the Directorate General of Communications have also evaluated the results of these repairs.
As a result, the planes affected by EAD have met flight safety. Thus, the Airbus A320 aircraft is ready to fly again with enhanced safety via ELAC software.
As additional information, there are a total of 207 Airbus 320 aircraft spread across Indonesian airlines, with 143 aircraft in operation. After this recall directive, 38 aircraft were affected (26 percent of the total normally operating).
A number of airlines from Indonesia that were affected were Batik Air, Super Air Jet, Citilink Indonesia, Indonesia Airasia, Pelita Air and Transnusa.
