woman claims that a local hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam, canceled her fully paid three-night reservation.

, this incident made the guest report it to the police and an investigation was carried out into the hotel who canceled the reservation.
After investigating, the hotel’s unilateral cancellation occurred only because he arrived late to check-in.

On November 11, 2025, police confirmed they had met the owner of the Royal Hostel on Hang Chao Street, Hanoi, after a woman named Nguyen Y Quyen who came from Ho Chi Minh City was refused check-in at 02.00 in the morning local time.
In fact, he had booked a room to stay from 7 to 10 November 2025 via the Agoda platform.
Quyen explained that his arrival at the hotel was delayed due to personal matters.
However, the hotel receptionist told him that the check-in deadline had passed and the hotel rooms were full.Quyen insisted he received no prior notice of the cancellation.
After being rejected, Quyen left the hotel and uploaded a video of the incident on his Facebook social media account.
Hotel Admits Mistake and Faces Fine
The hotel owner admitted to police that the incident occurred exactly as Quyen reported, although he argued that there were no rooms left at the time.
The hotel then contacted Quyen to apologize and return the money.
Police concluded that the hotel violated several regulations.As a result, Royal Hostel could potentially face a fine of up to 20 million Vietnamese Dong or around US$759 or Rp. 11.8 million.
This case could serve as a warning to accommodation regarding the importance of clear communication with hotel guests, especially when it comes to late night check-in policies.
