Cycle
and duration
menstruation
are often considered trivial, even though both are important markers of women’s reproductive health conditions.Changes in the distance between menstruation and the length of bleeding can be an early signal of a problem that needs attention.
Even though it occurs every month, there are still many women who do not understand the limits of the menstrual cycle and duration that are considered normal and safe for health.
The menstrual cycle is calculated from the first day of the previous menstruation to the first day of the next menstruation.Even though it is often said to last 28 days, each woman can have a different cycle.

In general, the menstrual cycle is still considered normal if it occurs within the range of 21 to 35 days.
Normal menstrual duration
Apart from the cycle, the duration or duration of bleeding during menstruation is also an important indicator of women’s reproductive health. On average, women experience menstruation for three to seven days.
Hardi said that the normal duration of menstruation is usually in the shorter range.
“Duration is how long she bleeds during menstruation. Normally three to five days. Changing Softex three to five times a day is still considered normal,” he said.
Bleeding that lasts too long, too little, or too much can be a sign of a disorder that needs to be examined further.
Phases in the menstrual cycle
The menstrual cycle consists of several phases which are influenced by the rise and fall of hormones. Here are the phases:
1. Menstrual phase
This phase occurs when the uterine lining sheds and comes out as menstrual blood. Some people experience bleeding for three to five to seven days.
2. Follicular phase
This phase begins at menstruation and ends at ovulation.During this phase, estrogen hormone levels increase, causing the lining of the uterus (endometrium) to grow and thicken.
3. Ovulation
This phase occurs approximately on day 14 of the 28-day menstrual cycle.A sudden increase in luteinizing hormone causes the ovaries to release eggs.
4. Luteal phase
This phase lasts from around day 15 to day 28.In this phase, the egg leaves the ovary and begins to move through the fallopian tube to the uterus.
Cycle changes with age
Menstrual cycles can change with age and hormonal changes. In early adolescence, cycles are often irregular and can take several years to stabilize.
Entering adulthood, cycles tend to become more regular before changing again as menopause approaches.Cycle changes can also occur in certain conditions, such as after giving birth, while breastfeeding, or due to stress and changes in body weight.
Menstruation is called irregular if:
• Occurs too often or too rarely
• Bleeding lasts more than seven days
• There is so much menstrual blood that you have to frequently change your sanitary napkin every one to two hours
• Severe pain
• Nausea and vomiting
Recognizing your own menstrual patterns is considered important so that women can immediately realize if unusual changes occur.Knowing the normal menstrual cycle and duration helps women understand their bodies and detect problems early.
