However, one travel expert recommends that guests avoid one particular type of hotel room as much as possible: rooms with numbers ending in 01.
Javier Sobrino, founder of Descubriendo Viajes, a Spanish travel platform focused on curated accommodations, advises hotel guests to stay away from rooms numbered 101, 201, 301 and so on.

He conveyed this advice to ensure a more enjoyable and hassle-free stay.
Choosing a hotel room may seem trivial, but according to Sobrino, room numbering can play an important role that goes beyond myth or superstition.
Sobrino explained that some numbers do have unique connotations.In the United States (US), for example, the number 13 is often avoided in numbering floors and rooms because it is considered unlucky.
The number 237 also became famous because it was depicted as a scary location in Stanley Kubrick’s film The Shining, while room 622 became iconic through Joel Dicker’s mystery novels.
“However, leaving aside these numbers related to legends or fictional stories, there are other numbers that must be avoided for more reasonable reasons,” stressed Javier, as reported

Noise disturbance from elevators and stairs

, Javier Sobrino reveals the logical reason behind his suggestion: all rooms with numbers ending in 01 should be avoided if guests desire peace of mind.
“The rooms are usually located in corners, that is, near the elevator and also near the exit of the hotel stairs,” he explained.
Based on his experience, although it does not always apply to every hotel, this placement pattern is found in many properties.
“Every time a guest passes by or someone comes down the stairs, you will hear it. I’ve even heard, when staying in a room in this corner, that you can hear the elevator,” he said.
Therefore, for those of you planning a vacation with the intention of resting, Sobrino concludes, “try to avoid that room.”
