Mental health problems aged over 15 years are ranked second among the 10 highest illnesses.West Java is the area with the highest prevalence of people with mental health problems.
The prevalence of mental problems in West Java was recorded at 4.4 percent.Meanwhile DKI Jakarta is at 2.2 percent.This figure is also above the national average of 2 percent.
Reluctant to seek treatment
Not only that, Yunita also said that only a few people who have mental health problems are moved to seek professional help.
It was noted that only 0.7 percent of people with anxiety disorders and 12.7 percent of people with depression sought treatment.
One of the articles is about a lack of self-awareness.The existence of a negative stigma about mental health also makes people reluctant to seek help.
“For example, it is often said that people who are always sad, people who don’t have enthusiasm, are said to lack strong faith,” said Yunita.
In fact, anxiety disorders and depression are two types of mental problems that need help.If left unchecked, it is not impossible that the condition will get worse.
“When you don’t seek treatment, you are left with depression, mild at first, but then it gets worse,” said Yunita.
Therefore, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) encourages the public to carry out mental health screening as an early detection effort.
