Russia announced a visa-free entry policy for
Chinese tourists
from December 2025 to September 14 2026. Visa-free rules for Chinese tourists have made demand for travel to Russia immediately soar.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Chinese citizens to travel to Russia without a visa.

Thirty minutes after the visa-free announcement was released, Tongcheng Travel (another China-based platform) also told that searches for Russia had more than doubled.
A number of Russian destinations, such as Moscow, Murmansk, Saint Petersburg, Vladivostok and Irkutsk are the most popular with Chinese travelers.
Based on data from Qunar, searches for the Hangzhou-Saint Petersburg route jumped 3.6-fold, while searches for flights departing from Beijing rose 47 percent.
Meanwhile, searches for the Beijing-Moscow route rose 44 percent, with requests for flights departing from Shenzhen and Chongqing up more than 30 percent.
Chinese travel experts see that after this visa exemption, arrivals to Russia will experience a marked increase.This includes booking airline tickets, hotels and local travel services in Russia.
