Is
raw milk
or raw milk can really prevent it
allergies
and asthma in children?Recently, this claim has been widely discussed again.
However, according to a specialist in clinical nutrition, Johannes Chandrawinata, until now there is no scientific evidence that can show a cause-and-effect relationship that consuming raw milk can prevent these two conditions.

According to Johannes, there are observations that children who grow up in livestock environments have lower rates of allergies and asthma. However, this is not automatic, meaning raw milk is the cause of this protection.
“The environmental factors are much wider and more varied. Until now there has been no research that can prove raw milk as a preventative for allergies or asthma,” said Johannes when contacted by goldensamoyedIndonesia.com, Wednesday (19/11).
In the midst of widespread promotion of raw milk which is considered ‘more natural’ and ‘healthier’, Johannes emphasized that the health risks are far greater than the unproven claims of benefits.
One claim that is often made is that raw milk contains natural probiotics. But this is not that simple.
“Raw milk may contain bacteria, but not necessarily the type of bacteria that is probiotic and has a good effect on health,” said Johannes.
He added that the presence of bacteria in raw milk could actually be an indicator of contamination, especially from animal or even human feces.
Unlike pasteurized milk which is heated to kill germs, raw milk does not go through an adequate heating process. As a result, raw milk has the potential to carry various disease-causing microorganisms, such as:
• Salmonella
• E. coli
• Listeria
• Campylobacter
• Brucella
These pathogens can cause food poisoning with symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, stomach ache and fever. In severe cases, infection can progress to kidney failure, paralysis such as Guillain-Barré syndrome, and even death.
“There are no more benefits from raw milk when compared to pasteurized milk. On the contrary, the health risks are very large,” he explained.
The claim that raw milk can prevent allergies and asthma has not been scientifically proven.Until now, consuming pasteurized milk remains the safest choice, especially for children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weak immune systems.
If you want to get the nutritional benefits of milk, make sure you choose a product that has been processed properly, is safe and hygienic.Raw milk may sound natural, but the risks are too high to ignore.
