The extension of the closure period for climbing routes on Mount Semeru is contained in the Announcement Letter Number: PG.21/T.8/TU/HMS.01.08/B/12/2025 concerning the Extension of the Closure of Climbing Mount Semeru which was issued on Tuesday this week.
This step is an effort to anticipate emergency events, such as heavy rain, landslides and strong winds caused by bad weather which could occur at any time and threaten the safety of all climbers.
Rescheduling climber tickets
Rudi stated that climbers who have purchased tickets through the online entrance ticket booking system on the official bromotenggersemeru.id website, starting from the period 20 November to 18 December 2025, can reschedule.
“The mechanism will be announced once there is certainty about the reopening of the climbing route,” he said.
Rudi confirmed that the TNBTS Center would take firm action against any illegal climbing activities in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
Bromo and Ranu Regulo
Meanwhile, two tourist activities in two other locations within TNBTS namely the Mount Bromo and Ranu Regulo areas remain open.
Even though it is still open for tourism, Rudi appealed to all tourists to avoid areas that are categorized as disaster-prone, especially Bromo Crater (Planet Bromo).
Furthermore, that location, said Rudi, is indeed a seismograph point for monitoring Bromo’s seismicity and volcanic activity.
The TNBTS Center also emphasized that all prospective visitors are obliged to comply with the decision that has been made.
“To the public, visitors, tourism service providers and related parties, pay attention and carry out this with full responsibility,” said Rudi.
