A couple of tourists were caught on camera defecating on the stone walls of Gyeongbokgung Palace, downtown Seoul,
South Korea
(Carousel).
This indecent act sparked strong criticism from netizens, especially from South Korea, on social media.
According to reports

, footage taken on November 10 shows a man crouching in the bushes while holding toilet paper.

Beside the man there was a woman who was pulling down her white trousers to urinate.Suddenly the actions of the two tourists immediately shocked social media.
Local broadcaster JTBC reported that the incident occurred at the stone walls of Gyeongbokgung, a very popular historical tourist site in South Korea.
The person filming the scene told JTBC that the couple appeared to be part of an overseas tour group that was nearby at the time.
“At that time, many Chinese tour groups visited Gyeongbokgung,” said the informant, as reported

Police reportedly intervened to stop the crime, but did not arrest or charge the individual concerned.
Under local law, defecating at cultural heritage sites can be categorized as a minor offence.The incident has sparked criticism online, with netizens demanding harsher punishment for the perpetrators.
Gyeongbokgung, also known as Gyeongbok Palace, was the main royal residence of the Joseon dynasty.Built in 1395, this palace served as the home of the royal family and the seat of government.
Now, Gyeongbok Palace is a tourist destination visited by many foreign tourists and is one of the icons of Seoul.
