At most one or two male flight attendants or cabin crew per flight.As a result of this policy, many flight attendants do not know each other closely because they rarely see each other during flights.
The union’s pressure succeeded in getting the airline to change its policy so that decisions about which flight crew members would fly were no longer divided based on gender.
After this rule which was considered discriminatory was abolished, several flight attendants planned special flights to start and celebrate this new history.
However, flight offers are quite complicated for these airlines, many other factors are taken into consideration, including seniority or length of service.
In August 2025, a group of highly tenured flight attendants proposed a joint flight fully staffed with flight attendants on the Taipei-New York route.
In fact, they agreed that if a senior flight attendant proposed the Taipei-New York flight, they would step down and negotiate another flight to ensure they could fly with the entire crew containing the flight attendant.
It doesn’t matter what date they fly, but there is a reason why they chose a flight to New York.After investigating, there is a hotel for the crew which is strategically located.
The flight attendants planned to make a special flight and also planned fun activities together after arriving in New York.
Initially, this group of flight attendants did not really hope that this application would be successful.However, this hope came true.One of the flight attendants, Derek Lin, shared details of their trip and moments together on Instagram.
