Ultra-processed foods are known to be damaging
brain
.What kind of food?Recent research has found foods that damage the brain and are often consumed daily.
Researchers from Virginia Tech found that there are two foods that are considered the most damaging to the brain.Consuming one or more extra servings of any of these foods indicates a significantly increased risk for cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

, the two foods that are considered the most dangerous for the brain are ultra-processed meat and ultra-processed drinks.How come?
Researchers looked at data from the University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study of 4,750 US residents aged 55 years and over.
Their health progress was tracked over a seven-year period.Researchers assessed their cognitive status every two years from 2014 to 2020.
To examine the relationship between food and cognitive decline, the researchers used a general brain health evaluation.There is a memory capacity test, counting backwards or subtracting several numbers in a row.
As a result, 1,363 participants experienced cognitive impairment.There are at least two types of food that damage the brain and are consumed by participants, namely,
Ultra-processed animal products, consumption of one serving per day showed a 17 percent increased risk of cognitive problems.
Sugary drinks such as soda, iced tea and sweet fruit drinks consumed an extra serving per day showed a 6 percent increased risk of cognitive impairment.
The results of this study were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Apart from these findings, an interesting finding was that total consumption of ultra-processed food was not associated with an increased risk of cognitive impairment.
Other ultra-processed foods such as sweets, savory snacks, whole-grain foods, milk, ready-to-eat foods are not associated with the risk of brain damage.
However, this does not mean that this series of foods are not called foods that damage the brain.Excessive consumption can of course have an impact on the body, including the brain.
