A JetBlue Airbus A320 bound for New Jersey reportedly fell thousands of feet suddenly without warning, in an incident on October 30.This sudden accident caused 15 passengers to be rushed to hospital due to injuries.
The JetBlue plane was on its way back from Cancun to Newark, United States. In this tense incident, the pilot managed to control the situation and make an emergency landing in Tampa.
However, the plane’s extreme movement injured around 20 people.Fifteen of them required hospitalization, and several passengers reported serious injuries, including head injuries.

This incident sparked debate regarding the cause.Airbus officials suspect the incident was caused by intense solar radiation that interfered with the plane’s navigation equipment.
However, this allegation was rejected by Clive Dyer, a space and radiation expert from the University of Surrey.Dyer believes that the disturbance does not come from solar radiation, but from exploding stars or supernovae.

Dyer suspects that this accident occurred because the plane was exposed to a stream of high-energy particles originating from a supernova explosion in the galaxy.
Dyer explained that cosmic rays can interact with modern microelectronics and change the state of a circuit, a condition known as a “flip” (changing a value from zero to one or vice versa).
“It can also cause hardware failure, when it induces current in electronic devices and burns them,” said Dyer, as reported

He added that the radiation levels caused by the local sun on October 30 were not strong enough to cause the plane to stop functioning.
In contrast, supernova explosions, when stars throw protons across the universe, can disrupt electronics, including those in airplanes.
Dyer advises aircraft manufacturers to build systems that can withstand potential cosmic disturbances.”The problem is, for more than 20 years, they have become complacent, because there hasn’t been a (significant solar weather) event,” he said, stressing the need for more robust electronics, especially on safety-critical units.
