.An 11 year old boy is recovering from a stroke he suffered.
A boy from Louisiana, United States, Cold Ditmore, had to suffer a stroke after an accident at his school.His head accidentally formed into a ball which was kicked by his friend.

At the time of the incident, Ditmore happened to be holding a marker which he put in his mouth.The impact of the ball caused the marker to be pushed backwards until it hit his throat.
The mother, Angelina Frazier, was initially worried that Ditmore had a concussion.However, doctors then discovered symptoms of a stroke.

, Ditmore began to experience speech problems such as a lisp, half of his facial muscles began to go limp, and had difficulty moving his left arm.
Ditmore was then admitted to intensive care at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
Doctors discovered a marker in Ditmore’s throat that had been pressing on his carotid artery.This creates blood clots that trigger strokes.
“The first thing he [Ditmore] said to me, ‘Mom, am I going to die?'” Frazier said.At that time, he admitted that he was pessimistic about the child’s chances of recovery.
But unexpectedly, Ditmore’s condition continued to show progress during the six months of treatment.
Now, Ditmore is still experiencing some post-stroke symptoms, has had to reduce exercise and other activities, and is taking blood-thinning medication.
Stroke itself is a medical emergency that occurs due to disruption of blood flow to the brain or rupture of blood vessels.This condition causes brain cells to die due to lack of oxygen and nutrients.
Stroke can cause permanent brain damage, disability, and even death if not treated quickly.
